The world of fashion and the world of art are closely linked. In fact, there are times, like with couture, where they are the same thing. Then there are times when fashion supports art such as the yearly window exhibition in Brown Thomas.
Every year, Brown Thomas selects a handful of young emerging artists to create interesting windows. I've had a few friends exhibit here over the years - I am a former art student after all! This year is no exception - they have carefully selected 36 artists who will exhibit a range of talent in the windows in the months. They range from paintings to sound art with pieces from Dee Walsh, David Folen, Kitty Moss, Karen Donnellen, Stephen Morris, Miranda Blennerhassett, Dee O' Shea, Ciuin Tracey and Aisling Conroy.
John Redmond, the creative director of Brown Thomas explains : “Art & Style aims to draw attention to the vibrant arts scene that exists in Ireland. Presenting works of art in a fashion environment and on this scale is new for us but we hope visitors to our stores will find the exhibitions refreshing and stimulating. We want to celebrate the diverse range of work that is being created by these artists and help bring it to a wider audience.”
There will be over 60 pieces of work on display starting at €200 and the exhibition opens on the 16th of May.
