A$AP Rocky says it knew it was going to polarize.
Rapper A$AP Rocky 's album "Testing" is undoubtedly one of his most polarizing bodies of work to date. The rapper's third studio album was not necessarily welcomed with open arms due to its experimental nature. In a recent interview with Kerwin Frost, Rocky talked about his project in retrospect but explained that he hoped he would be loved or hated without a compromise. He made a comparison or output of his album with Kanye West's "Yeezus" . In addition, he revealed that Kanye West really had a heavy hand in creating the album.
“It's like: Either you love or hate it. This is one of those experiences where - it was like my Yeezus, ”he said. “Ironically, Kanye helped me with this album… He came to Berlin… Kanye, Virgil, Dave Chappelle, Mos Def,” he continued. “I was just working on my album and MGMT came in and they helped produce. They were just helping me heal the album. ” Rocky then explained that Kanye was helping to make "A $ AP Forever" what it was.
“My cult followers, I think they understand, they love it. I don't want to release anything that is fucking contemporary, ”he said. “I feel that if I hear what everyone tells me to do, I'll get fucking confused bro. I'll do what I want and what feels right. ”
