Last week was my family holiday. We have never been a family to go abroad, instead opting to go rambling in our own back yard.
This year we decided to go to The Cotswolds, an area dubbed one of the most beautiful places in England, which when we were having such perfect weather, we couldn’t be in a better place.
We were staying in a little country cottage; low ceilings, wooden beams and even a fire place- not that we were going to need that! As requested here is the link to the property.
The owner even left us some Jam. Proper country life, eh?
We were stayed in a village called North Newington- well I say village, there was roughly 10 cottages, and a school. Oh and a pub. I will tell you one thing about The Cotswolds, they LOVE their country pubs. None of this 2 for 10, chain business. Proper country pubs, with home cooked grub, and homebrewed beer. Now that’s what I’m talking about.
In the following days we took to the hills, and became country bumpkins, trekking across fields with no maps, or clue where we were going. Just let nature do the talking.
We even made a couple of friends.
Of course in this terribly English place, we had to do what the English do best, and stop for tea and cake. Even if it was 30 degrees!
I can’t describe enough how beautiful The Cotswolds is. Every single building is a stunning thatched cottage with trailing ivy and an abundance of glorious perfect prize winning flowers.
The Cotwolds is one of those places I can just let go and feel free and easy... hence the scruffy t-shirt and no makeup!
Oh and another thing. They drive vintage cars! I’m sold!
Of course, not one to pass up my chance to cook, I whipped up a fresh salad with cod stuffed with pesto risotto and parmesan. I will have to do it again and put up the recipe, as not one to blow my own trumpet, but it was A-Mazing.
The weather defiantly helped make this holiday, as it wouldn’t have been the same rambling in the country in the pouring rain, however it is such a perfect, unspoilt part of the world that I’m not sure anything could have dampened my spirits. However this is not the last of my country adventure, so stay tuned for more soon...
